Local visual artist Eryn O’Neill has launched a new solo show at Orange Gallery entitled Urban/Nature.

Looking Up. 12x12. Oil on Panel.

Looking Up. 12×12. Oil on Panel.

The series depicts O’Neill’s perspective on cities, with an emphasis on Ottawa. Her pieces illustrate non-traditional vantage points, what she calls “seeing the city from weird angles.”

O’Neill says that the she has chosen sites that have made a conscious effort to maintain a relationship with nature by incorporating it into the space. Her previous work considered aspects of the High Line Park in New York City, but this is her first series to address the intersection of manmade and natural elements closer to home.

Urban/Nature is open until Oct. 18 at Orange Gallery at 290 City Centre Ave.

O’Neill will also take part in Makin’ it Grain, a pop-up, five-course beer pairing dinner at Dominion City Brewing Co. on Oct. 29. O’Neill will be displaying and selling pieces depicting event partners Dominion City, Around the Block Butcher Shop, Bread by Us and Albion Rooms. This event is part of Apartment613’s Support Local month, and it will benefit Farmworks. Tickets are on sale now for $85.
